Lake Como Lago di Como, or Lake Como is located in Lombardy, northern Italy. Lake Como is the deepest lake in Italy, with a maximum depth of 425 meters. The area around the northern part of the lake is rough and attracts fewer tourists than the southern part of Lake Como. The towns around the lake are romantic and picturesque. A few well known : Como (the capital city of Como), Bellano, Varenna, Bellagio and Mennagio. The island of Isola Comacina, which lies in the middle of the lake, is also a major tourist attraction. Tourism is here at its peak around the first weekend after 24 June, when the annual "Festa di Giovanni" is celebrated. Illuminated boats decorate the lake and in the night, fireworks is lighted. Walks and boat trips can also be made. Thanks to the location of Lake Como, the climate is moderate and pleasant in summer. With temperatures around 25 degrees, it is great to cool off in the lake or in the private pool. Specialties from this region are the famous Gorgonzola cheese, polenta and an exclusive white wine from the town of Domaso. By car the Lake Como area can be reached easily, but flying to Milan is also an option.
